Here Comes The…

Wednesday, July 28th, 2004

Yes, it is here - the Premiership kicks off with Tottenham v Liverpool on August 14, and it couldn’t come soon enough. In just two short months we’ve seen the emergence of heroes, huge transfers, and enough stories to stay up through these summer months. To recap:

- Champions World Soccer Series
- Brazil wins Copa America
- Greece stuns all to take Euro 2004
- Wayne Rooney
- Sir Alex Ferguson v Jose Mourinho
- In: Crystal Palace, Norwich, West Bromwich Albion
- Out: Leeds, Leicester City, West Ham

This upcoming Premiership promises to be most exciting. Hopefully the Arsenal will fall at Old Trafford with newcomer Allen Smith fresh from Leeds Utd. Remember, there’s only one Keano! Over and out.

Movable Type vs. WordPress

Monday, July 26th, 2004

Well, this site just started and already I’m having second thoughts. Should I switch over to WordPress? You bloggers out there . . . What do you think? From what I read on the Internet, the two main arguments for switching are: 1) WordPress is free, open source and 2) WordPress is easier to use given its PHP backbone AND no “Rebuild” required for updates.

[I spoke too soon. . . When exploring the Six Apart web site, I found this concerning the annoying "rebuilding."]

It sounds very tempting, but I spent sooooo many hours learning MT and how to format the templates for this site.

The one plus for MT is that it is an established system with lots of support and extendable features available through plugins.

[I think I'll stick with MT!]

I am proud of this site.

I really like the way this blog is shaping up. It looks so cool, so UCLA… ahem … ahem. I just had to say that. Anyways, I really like the About page. Check it out.

Repeat for Next “Pete” - Roddick Rolls

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

roddick_rca.jpg
Totally forgot to watch the past two tennis matches on tv. But Andy Roddick won back-to-back at the RCA Championships. Looking forward to summer tennis US Open series. Hopefully, the season will end with a repeat US Open victory for A-Rod.

Last night I went to 24 HR Fitness with Tony and spent half an hour on the treadmill. My tennis has not been so fun since it’s so exhausting. So I figure I’d better hit the gym before I hit the courts.

Gettin’ the Hang of MT

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

I think I’m getting the hang of Movable Type. After numerous hours of messing around with the Stylesheet, I think I’ve found something that I really like.

What do you think?

Life in the Slow Lane - Start of Summer ‘04

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

Since my previous web site was lost, I thought I would record a huge “life event” that happened at the beginning of the summer … I finally took the plunge and QUIT TEACHING. As of June 12, 2004, I am no longer a public school educator!!!

The end to an 11-year career occurred without any big-to-do or fanfare. Finished giving my last set of finals to the D.A.s (aka dumb asses); had already cleaned my classrooms and thrown away and/or given away most of my teaching materials and clutter to the poor souls left behind in that wretched profession; and basically left, never to look back.

The only difficult part was saying goodbye to my guys’ tennis team a few days before. I prepared a written statement (30 KB) to make it easier to announce.

Though I miss them, it’s good not be surrounded by the other idiots (except for both teannis teams and some other students - if you’re reading you know who you are . . . you’re the best) in the classroom. I have a few announcements:

1) To Period 4, you are all (_o_)’s.
a) CW, y-o-u are the FUCKING RETARD. After all, I never had to take moron algebra in high school.
b) NH and KP, you both are the most disgusting, skanky “hoes” I have ever had the displeasure of knowing.

. . . one Positive Announcement . . .

2) Long live the Jedi Tennis Team and a special blessing on Darth Vader!

Well, now that that’s out of my system . . . I started work as an Instructional Systems Designer for A on Tuesday, June 15th. It is much less stressful than teaching; that’s for sure. More about that in my next summative entry.

Fed Up

Saturday, July 24th, 2004

I am fed up with my web host. This site seems to be down more than it is up. I guess you get what you pay for. No more cheapskating for me. I have initiated the transfer of this domain and all the other domains I own to Home @ 1&1 Internet Inc.

Update:
[Well, I'm still with my current host. The new one I wanted to try did not offer XML support in any of their plans. For now, I've decided to stay since everyone else charges up the wazoo. But I've got my ears open for better service. At least they added XML support for me, but I haven't figure out how to use it yet for MTAmazon.]

There might be an outage due to transition. Keep your fingers crossed.

There Are Such Things As Hip Muscles!

The hip flexors (muscles at the front of the hips) and extensors (muscles at the rear of the hips) are some of the most frequently used muscles in the body.

First Entry

Sunday, July 18th, 2004

So www.whatsbruin.net kind of got obliterated when my web hosting company decided to upgrade their servers. Of course, I ignored their email message and failed to backup my data again . . . which leads us all to this site, powered by WordPress Movable Type. The other format was confusing and too complex for what I really want to do. I will try to put my online photo albums back. But I won’t be adding a forum. Sorry for those of you who wanted to post in such a place. But now you can make comments to the content here.

Until then, please be patient.
