Life in the Slow Lane - Start of Summer ‘04
By JoeBruin88. Filed in Career |Tags: Career, teaching
Since my previous web site was lost, I thought I would record a huge “life event” that happened at the beginning of the summer … I finally took the plunge and QUIT TEACHING. As of June 12, 2004, I am no longer a public school educator!!!
The end to an 11-year career occurred without any big-to-do or fanfare. Finished giving my last set of finals to the D.A.s (aka dumb asses); had already cleaned my classrooms and thrown away and/or given away most of my teaching materials and clutter to the poor souls left behind in that wretched profession; and basically left, never to look back.
The only difficult part was saying goodbye to my guys’ tennis team a few days before. I prepared a written statement (30 KB) to make it easier to announce.
Though I miss them, it’s good not be surrounded by the other idiots (except for both teannis teams and some other students - if you’re reading you know who you are . . . you’re the best) in the classroom. I have a few announcements:
1) To Period 4, you are all (_o_)’s.
a) CW, y-o-u are the FUCKING RETARD. After all, I never had to take moron algebra in high school.
b) NH and KP, you both are the most disgusting, skanky “hoes” I have ever had the displeasure of knowing.
. . . one Positive Announcement . . .
2) Long live the Jedi Tennis Team and a special blessing on Darth Vader!
Well, now that that’s out of my system . . . I started work as an Instructional Systems Designer for A on Tuesday, June 15th. It is much less stressful than teaching; that’s for sure. More about that in my next summative entry.

Gerry,
Sounds like this new career change will be a great renewal for you. You have so much to offer. I’m glad we share similar religious and political views (i.e., Reagan was our greatest leader)! and Christ is Lord! Rock on bro…

PS Condolences to the Bruin baseball effort last season, as my CSUF Titans won yet another NCAA National Championship (ha! I think that’s 4 now!?)

Well all I can say is congrats, too bad you left when you did because I am going to join the tennis team this year and would have like to have you as a coach, but oh well things happen. I like the web site, and good luck with your new profession.

Thanks Nimble Rabit (Sean). That would have been so cool to have you on the team. That was the most fun as a teacher that I had in my career. Give my regards to Ryan K., et. al.
By the way, when I requested that your sites be blocked last year, it had nothing to do with whether or not I liked gaming or anime. In fact, I hate them both (don’t be offended). I asked that they be blocked (again, teachers don’t block sites, the district does) because I was doing my job — that is, trying to get you all to stay on task. Just ask your General how wasting time in class affects grades. He failed the easiest class. How lame is that? And besides, you earned a B when you could have easily gotten an A if you had totally followed through on your real estate web site.
Anyways, it doesn’t really matter now. Good luck with the tennis team. I hope you have a lot of fun and good times!

thanx, and I never took it personally I understood and as a student I
felt it was my job to be off task( no im just joking, I really should
have tried a little harder…I just got bored of school altogether in
the last few months). I think tennis will be great, im in racket
sports pe class this year and so far tennis is my new favorite sport;
it really is awesome.
