In Touch Daily Devotional: Luke 6:46-49

Increase my faith Jesus so I can daily count the cost of following you when making tough choices, but especially when making choices in the face of temptation. Remind me clearly, and harshly if necessary, that following the easy path is usually not always the right path.

I’m reminded of that quote I read recently from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis:

… every time you make a choice, you are turning the central part of you, the part of you that chooses, into something a little different from what it was before. And, taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing either into a Heaven creature or into a hellish creature…

I don’t want to look back near the end of my life and see that I’ve become a hound from hell without realizing it based on the collection of small choices made over several years.

In Touch Daily Devotional: Ephesians 6:13-18

This is a great visual. Thank you Lord.

First, I place the helmet of salvation on my head. Protect my mind and imagination. Guard my eyes, allowing no sin to creep in. Focus my thoughts on the things of God. Let the breastplate of righteousness keep my heart and emotions safe. I pray that I won’t be governed by my feelings, but by truth. Wrap Your Word around me like a belt. And safeguard me from error. I put on the sandals of peace to guide my steps. Plant my feet in Your truth. Empower me to stand firm against attack.

Guard my eyes and thoughts today with your helmet of salvation, and my eyes, keeping all things out that would dishonor you.

In Touch Daily Devotional: Psalm 63:1-8

Jesus, if I really am seeking you, I need to see you one day at a time.

“First, are you learning more about Him and His desires for your life?”

I confess I’m not daily learning more about you and want you want for me each day. So I’m starting today, hopefully with Tony. Through the verses today I learned that you wait for me to call on you even when I am dry.

“Second, do you feel like the day isn’t complete without fellowship with Him?”

This feels like the easy part for me where I can simply turn in to worship and praise you in song from my heart. But I tend to use worship as a substitute when it should simply be a starting point.

“And, third, do you find yourself trusting Him more and leaving behind ungodly habits?”

I need your help, Jesus, on this one… big time.

It’s been awhile since I’ve written here, but I thought a good first post to jump back into writing would just be a simple posting for a cool photograph to share for Friday photo. I took this shot while on vacation using a flash to bounce the light upward and then back down on the bottles.
