Jesus, the Son of God

In Touch Daily Devotional: Luke 22:66-71

At this point all I know is that Jesus is Lord, is King, and He has a much greater plan for any of us than we actually know. For that reason, we should not question why things do or do not happen, but instead, we should see how the situation allows us to practice our faith. No matter what, we will worship Jesus, the Son of God and Son of Man.

A Present Father

In Touch Daily Devotional: Proverbs 22:6

This truly shows the importance of a father and the role he plays in a son’s life. I feel that as we delve deeper into our walk with Christ, our relationship as father and son grows stronger. I pray for this growth to continue.

Making a Good Connection

In Touch Daily Devotional: Ephesians 6:1-4

Raising a child is a huge honor and privilege. But it’s also a serious responsibility. Dr. Stanley challenges you to closely look at these three areas. Do your kids know you’re there for them? Do they feel your love? Do they find comfort in your hands? Ask God to show His love for your children through you today.

God, if I only had one prayer to be answered by you before I die, then let the answer to these three questions always be YES.

Courage in the Lonely Hour

In Touch Daily Devotional: Psalm 23

I feel most alone when faced with a temptation to sin and choose the wrong thing. I see You there with me Jesus as I face the struggle, but it’s me that chooses to turn my back on you.

The legacy of these saints is to trust God and have the courage to follow Him, even when obedience is inconvenient or difficult.

Let me obey you when it’s inconvenient and especially when it’s difficult. I think I face this situations when I’m “lazy” and respond with my emotion and my flesh. It’s obviously easier to take the easy way out and give in to the wrong thing, like dishonoring you with my tongue and my thoughts. It’s more difficult to choose the higher route of patience, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, and understanding.

Running With Endurance

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

In Touch Daily Devotional: James 1:2-3

Jesus, thank you for reminding of this lesson first taught to me many years back at UCLA. I thank you for Dennis who was in my life at the time. We had a whole study on running the race with endurance. And it vividly comes to my mind again as if I were still 20 years old. Remind me that I’m still in it for the long haul, to discipline my mind and body, so that I may still be of use to you.

A Parent’s Positive Influence

In Touch Daily Devotional: Colossians 3:23-25

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Thank you Lord for reminding me of these verses. These are the same ones that Dennis shared with me and challenged me to memorize and meditate on them while I was working at The ChartHouse restaurant. What a life-changing experience that was. Please continue to remind me of these verses when my attitude suffers. I want to remember that I need to do all things to honor and glorify you.

In Touch Daily Devotional: 1 Kings 15:8-35

This is true, no matter how old your children are. Jesus, let me be the man of God you created me to be so my son can follow in the same steps.

By Faith Alone

In Touch Daily Devotional: Romans 1:16-17

This message today was so true. So many times I try to reason things out - why something happened, why didn’t something happen, etc. There really is no point in asking questions like that, as they are fruitless. Jesus is constant and strong, and I pray He strengthens my faith more every day.

Faith Versus Intellect

In Touch Daily Devotional: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25

… but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Thank you Lord that you are the power of God and the wisdom of God. What seems foolish to the non-believing world and perplexing to them makes perfect sense to those whom you have called. Keep me reliant on your strength and not my own.

The Hard-Hearted Believer

In Touch Daily Devotional: Hebrews 3:12-19

Jesus, keep my heart soft and pliable. Lord, I want to be reminded of my choices that I have before me to participate in things that are not only good, but the best. I can choose to do good things, but there are always things that I can do instead that are best for me and my spiritual well-being.

Jesus, remind me daily to keep my accounts short with you. I don’t want to hide in the deceit of sin so that my heart becomes covered with a tough callous.
