I didn’t notice it the first time I watched Return of the Jedi on the new DVDs recently released in the last couple of months. But after watching Episodes 4, 5, and 6 today in a Star Wars marathon fest here at home, I anxiously waited for the closing scene of Jedi, which was rumored to have been changed. I had heard that the original actor portraying Anakin Skywalker had changed to Hayden Christensen in the apparition scene during the Ewok Celebration. And it was true! How cool is that?
Of course, Anakin should be remembered in his glory days as the young and powerful Jedi that he was before he turned to the dark side. I think that’s a very cool way to end the weekend.
I finally saw Revenge of the Sith. Unfortunately, I missed about three minutes of it because I had to go to the bathroom really bad during the battle with General Grievous. I thought the movie was great, probably not as good as Return of the Jedi. However, the final battle scene between Skywalker and Kenobi was the most fantastic duel I have ever seen. As expected, the movie was kind of sad at the end, with Kenobi losing a friend, Padme dying at childbirth, and Anakin betraying the Jedi.
But to be honest, the book was far more descriptive and I think in many ways more dramatic and better than the movie. For example, the discovery of Chancellor Palpatine as the Sith Lord and the subsequent turning of Anakin to the Dark Side of the Force was much more dramatic and better in the book. You should read it.

In time, the great Sith Lord will reveal himself.

Is making me wait. I’m not sure if I will have to wait until May 31st or June 1st to see ROTS, I will be in Greece when the final segment of the “sexology” (?) opens on May 19th. It is, however, premiering in Athens on May 20th. I’ll see if Josephine’s relatives are up to taking me to the movie theater there.
I loved reading this article on expectations for the movie. Now this is what I’m talking about. Read it. George, make it so.

As of today, there are exactly 45 more days until the premiere of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. And first in line in Plano, Texas will be Eliot, right?
Geez, Eliot will probably have seen it at least three times until I see it for the first time. I will be en route to Athens on the day of the North American premiere.
Before this comes out in theaters, I am going to read this. I bought the book today while shopping at Costco. It’s a couple of dollars more expensive than Amazon, but I saved money on shipping, so I guess it equals out.
Unfortunately, I will probably miss the premiere because I’ll be on vacation. I could watch it in Athens, but I doubt Josephine or her family there will be interested in that.
I like comparing the movie to the book to see how they match up. Plus there is a lot more background in the book that is impossible to get from the movies.
The new Episiode III trailer is s-w-e-e-t!! I thought I had watched it at work on Friday, but I guess what I saw there was just the “teaser”. The actual trailer is two and one-half minutes long. Here’s a transcript of the trailer including scene settings too.
What I like best so far is The Emperor, or soon to be Emperor, Chancellor Palpatine, going to fight the Jedi. There’s a scene where Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) and some other Jedi barge into the Chancellor’s office. The Jedi draw their light sabers. Windu says: “You’re under arrest, Chancellor.” Palpatine replies: “Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?” He then unhilts his own saber from within his sleeve; it ignites; and Palpatine kind of glides/levitates towards the Jedi to attack with his red light saber.
I can only speculate that Palpatine is the one who kills Windu, not Anakin. The rest of the clip shows Anakin going on a killing rampage, wiping out all the Jedi. As you already know, the only two surviving Jedi are Obi-Wan and Yoda.
I can’t wait to see it. But I might have to wait until June because we will be in Greece when it premieres on May 19th. So it looks like the tradition of Pourpa and me watching the premiere of each Star Wars movie on opening day will come to an end with this final installment of the Star Wars saga.
BTW if you haven’t seen the trailer, you can watch it here. So far I haven’t been too successful downloading my own copy of it. It’s very well protected against that. Right click on the link and do a “Save As” to your Desktop or hard drive or wherever you want. You will have to rename the file to a shorter filename because the given one is too long for Quick Time to play. After renaming the file, simply double click on it and enjoy! Blogography Dave has some screen captures of the trailer here.

I had a Star Wars dream. I saved it from an online chat I had with Pourpa. Here’s how it went:
JoeBruin88: i had a star wars dream this morning before i woke up
Pourpa: nice
JoeBruin88: i dreamed i was evil anakin in a restaurant and a red-headed jedi, his wife, and small daughter were there sitting in a booth behind me.
JoeBruin88: i warned them to get out because i hate the jedi
JoeBruin88: so they became invisible
JoeBruin88: but then i sensed their presence behind me in the next booth and took out my light saber
JoeBruin88: and i swiped the “air” and blood gushed out
JoeBruin88: i killed the little girl first, then the wife, and finally the red-headed jedi
Pourpa: wow
JoeBruin88: but i don’t think they were jedi because he did not fight
JoeBruin88: then i woke up
Pourpa: lol
